We're getting more and more requests for crochet patterns and are always delighted to see that yarn companies are responding. Here are two designs by Laura Gebhart (knit versus crochet) using James C. Brett yarn, Marble Chunky, to make two scarves. Each pattern needs just one ball of Marble Chunky and we have lots of colours for you to choose from!
Score a hat trick when you knit a trio of socks! The "hat trick" inspired three-by-one ribbing will provide better fit as it hugs the ankle and the foot, right down to the toe. Keep your feet warm while you cheer on your team, whether at home or rink side. Want to purchase a skein of this one-of-a-kind yarn?
Want to make some man-sized mittens? We love mittens by Rebekkah Kerner made from Cascade Yarns Ecological Wool. These mittens are gauged to fit an average sized man's hand, but could very easily be downsized to fit a smaller hand by tightening the gauge to 6 - 6.5 stitches per inch.
Wrap unspun wool roving around a bar of soap and find out how quick and easy it is to create felt. This project is fun for everyone (no knitting or crocheting required!) and the final product makes a nice gift for any occasion.
There are so many ways to wear this beautiful shawl. The name itself really says it all!
It's all about cute! These mittens are so adorable you won't be able to stop at just one pair. Hang them on your Christmas tree, turn them into a mitten garland, attach them to gifts, or use them as wrapping for a gift of lip balm or keep your usb key "cozy" with a little mitten. The afterthought thumb is an easy add on.
Madeleine Tosh Sock is a 100% superwash merino wool, available in luscious glazed solid colourways. Each skein contains 395 yards (361m) of squishy soft, hand-dyed, vibrant colour. One skein will complete a pair of women's large socks. One skein each of two different colours will make this sock. What colours will you pick?
Cynthia loves to knit socks. Every time a new yarn comes in, she visualizes it as a sock. That's exactly what happened a while ago when we got in some fine cotton with an elastic component. The added nylon-elastic content gives cotton what it needs to be a sock: elasticity! They're super stretchy, short, sport socks.
Three great patterns from Noro!
A pattern to cook up a cute little cozy that keeps a perfectly cooked egg warm!
Be adventurous and try out different color combinations. You will be pleasantly surprised at the outcome!
A cute little crocheted star that's super easy to make, but makes for a wonderful ornament!
A fantastic pattern by Jane Ellison using Mirasol Ushya. You can't tell us that doesn't look extra warm.

This chunky and cozy scarf made from Misty Alpaca is a fantastic accessory for your fall wardrobe. You'll love it as you walk out the door and into the crisp morning air.
This adorable throw designed by Allison Haas is the kind that will have you feeling all warm and fuzzy on the inside and the outside.
If you've made it out to our Sock Boot Camp workshop, you've done this pattern before. If not, here it is! It uses a medium weight yarn and bigger needles and comes in five sizes. You can whip up a pair of "boot" socks in a weekend. And if you find you're in over your head, call us... we have a workshop to help you!
It's a wrap, it's a scarf or shrug, a cowl, a sweater, a bathing suit cover up or a belted ruana! One piece – dozens of looks.
Our friend Margaret W. loves Malabrigo Rasta. The colours are saturated, the yarn is so soft and squishy. And it take no time at all to knit up on giant needles. Make an infinity scarf (a really long loop) or a cozy neckwarmer with either of these two patterns, courtesy of our friend Margaret.
This Zig Zag cushion has been designed by Kaffe Fassett in a steely palette, exclusively for Rowan.
In the spirit of Victoriana, these little wrist warmers are the essence of romance, with soft ruffles that look ever-so charming under a jacket sleeve, and beads that catch the light and sparkle at your wrists.
Here's a fantastically warm and cozy pattern using Cascade Magnum. This pattern was created in homage of those who "trudge in the wind, snow and ice". We'd say us Albertans qualify!
Adding a stripe to Rowan's much loved Kidsilk Haze in Kaffe Fassett selected colours seems a natural step and this easy to knit pattern lets you watch the colours change as you knit your own unique scarf. One scarf from one ball.
Elegant and refined - these wristlets are a great beginner lace project.
Rae picked up some of the Rowan Colourscapes yarn (100% lambs wool) in colours inspired by Kaffe Fassett and she whipped up this circular wrap. Fortunately for us, Rae took great notes and passed them along for all of us who want to try this easy knit. The secret of its beauty is in the beautiful colourways, the chunky yarn and big needles, a good blocking and (of course) our lovely model, Jen.
Lucky us! Lucky you! Laurie Day created this lovely scarf pattern and is allowing us to post it up for you - free! Using knit, and purl stitches along with paired decreases and yarn overs, lovely little pleats are created. Use a self striping yarn and the pleats become painted. Once started the 14 row pattern is easily memorized.
Pick up your pointy sticks and knit for those in need! If you'd like some suggestions for local organizations who would like to receive your handmade gifts, contact us and we'll be happy to pass along suggestions.
